Al-Ahli Takes First-Step Advantage in AFC Elite Quarter-Finals

Al-Ahli Football Team claimed an impressive 3-1 win against hosts Al-Rayyan of Qatar in the first game of their AFC Champions League Elite round of 16 matchup. The game took place at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Rayyan.

Al-Ahli opened the scoring through Brazilian Galeno in the 30th minute, and just four minutes later, Algerian star Riyad Mahrez doubled their advantage, giving Al-Ahli a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime.

Feras Al-Brikan added a third goal from a well-orchestrated counter-attack led by Mahrez in stoppage time, putting Al-Ahli in a strong position to advance to the quarter-finals ahead of the return game, which will be played in Jeddah next Tuesday.
