Al Ahli Overcomes UAE’s Shabab Al-Ahli in a 4–3 AFC Champions League Elite Game
Al Ahli’s first team defeated visiting Shabab Al-Ahli of the UAE with a 4–3 victory at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, in the eighth round of the AFC Champions League Elite.
Al Ahli started brightly, opening the scoring through Firas Al-Buraikan in the 12th minute. Continued pressure paid off when Shabab Al-Ahli scored an own goal in the 35th minute. Just before halftime, Enzo Millot extended Al Ahli’s lead with the team’s third goal.
The home side maintained control after the break, with Saleh Abu Al-Shamat converting a penalty in the 52nd minute to make it 4–0. However, the visitors struck back with two goals in the 66th and 78th minutes, forcing Al Ahli to tighten up defensively. Deep into stoppage time, Shabab Al-Ahli added a third, but Al Ahli held firm to claim a deserved win after a dominant attacking display.
The result takes Al Ahli’s tally to 17 points. The team had already secured qualification for the Round of 16 earlier in the competition.
