Osama Hawsawi Named Assistant Sporting Director at Al Ahli
Al Ahli Club Company has appointed former Saudi national player and ex-Al Ahli star Osama Hawsawi as Assistant Sporting Director, marking a strategic move to tap into homegrown expertise that blends on-field experience with modern management approaches. The appointment is part of the club's broader vision to strengthen its administrative teams and pursue ambitious goals in the coming seasons.
Hawsawi brings exceptional credentials to the role. During his playing career, he made 135 appearances for Saudi Arabia and led the team as captain at the 2018 World Cup. His international resume includes three Asian Cup tournaments, four Gulf Championships, and multiple World Cup and continental qualifiers. At Al Ahli, where he played from 2012 to 2016, he was instrumental in securing three trophies and cemented his reputation as one of Saudi football's finest defenders.
Since retiring in 2018, Hawsawi has successfully transitioned into football administration. He established the Saudi Professional Football Players Association, worked with French club Châteauroux, and served as Deputy Technical Director at the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. His impressive qualifications include UEFA (A), a Master's in Football Management from FBA Academy, a Sports Management diploma from Real Madrid University, and a Public Relations degree from King Abdulaziz University.
