Al-Ahli Defeats Al-Hilal 3–1 to Reach the AFC Champions League Elite Final
Al-Ahli booked their spot in the final of the Elite AFC Champions League after a commanding 3–1 win over Al-Hilal in the much-anticipated Asian Clasico, played at Alinma Stadium in Jeddah’s King Abdullah Sports City as part of the continental tournament’s semi-final stage.
Roberto Firmino opened the scoring in the 9th minute, smashing in a powerful finish from inside the box after a brilliant Galeno cross.
Al-Ahli doubled their lead in the 27th minute after a dazzling through ball from Riyad Mahrez found Ivan Toney, who rounded Al-Hilal’s goalkeeper Yassine Bounou and calmly slotted it into the empty net.
Feras Al-Brikan sealed the win with a third goal in stoppage time, capping off a dominant performance in this all-Saudi semi-final clash.
With this win, Al-Ahli advances to the final, where they will face the winner of the game between Al-Nassr and Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale on Saturday, May 3.
