Arnasón Appointed Head Coach of Al Ahli Women’s First Team

Al Ahli has appointed Icelandic coach Thor Arnasón as Head Coach of the Women’s First Team on a one-year contract, as the club continues to strengthen its women’s football programme with experienced and specialised coaching talent ahead of the new season.

Arnasón brings an impressive coaching record to Al Ahli and holds UEFA’s highest coaching qualifications. He joins the club following a successful spell in the Icelandic league, where his work earned him the 2025 Coach of the Year award.

His career also includes notable achievements in women’s football. He led Stjarnan to the Icelandic Women’s League title in 2011 and 2013, before continuing his successful coaching career in Portugal, where he guided Damaiense to the highest league finish in the club’s history in the Portuguese Women’s First Division in 2024.
